Numerous people were killed when suspected herdsmen attacked the Otobi community in the Akpa district of the Otukpo Local Government Area in Benue State.

Kennedy Angbo, a member of the Benue State House of Assembly representing the Otukpo-Akpa Constituency, claims that the attack began at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

In a phone interview with Channels Television, the lawmaker, who is from Akpa district, claimed that hundreds of people had left the area and that an unknown number of people had been killed.

As he appealed for assistance from the government and security forces, Edwin Emma, a resident of the Otobi community, told the Benue channel that many people were afraid.

“We are being attacked by herdsmen at Otobi community, my wife and children are fleeing from the community as I speak, please call for help,” the frightened resident said.

Since a security guard at the Federal Ministry of Water Resources Multipurpose Water Dam was killed a few days ago, Otobi, the neighborhood where the dam is located, has experienced two attacks in April.

As of the time of writing, the police had not yet responded to the development.
