‎Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly referred to as “Killaboi,” has been successfully extradited from Doha, Qatar, to Nigeria by the Nigeria Police Force.

The fugitive, who was wanted for the murder of Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, was brought back to the country in the early hours of this Saturday, April 19, 2025, thanks to concerted efforts with the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Force Headquarters Abuja, and the Qatari Judicial Authorities, according to a statement issued today by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the force’s spokesperson.

Adejobi went on to say that the extradition came about as a result of a petition filed by the deceased’s family on September 29, 2024, via their legal representatives. INTERPOL NCB Abuja was tasked with looking into the situation.

According to the results of the investigation, on July 13, 2023, Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, the suspect, killed Miss Onuwabhagbe, a 21-year-old first-class student at Lead City University, Ibadan, at his home at 24a Abiola Apooyi Street, Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos. In an attempt to thwart investigations, he left Nigeria after committing the crime and then posted a video online in which he claimed to confess.

”‎Following his declaration as wanted by the NPF Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on 13th October 2023, an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued for his global apprehension. He was initially arrested in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on 20th October 2023 under the false identity “KANU PRINCETON SAMUEL,” but escaped custody during a prison break on 26th November 2023 in Feeetown.

Further intelligence gathering revealed that the suspect continued to evade law enforcement, traversing multiple regions including West Africa, East Asia and the Middle East, under forged identities before eventually relocating to Doha, Qatar on 24th January, 2025. Operating under the alias “TOURE ABDOULAYE” with a fraudulent Guinean passport, he secured illegal employment and concealed his identity.”

‎He was apprehended by Qatari officials in February 2025 after INTERPOL NCB Abuja and INTERPOL NCB Doha used sophisticated biometrics and strong international cooperation to verify his identification. He was repatriated to Nigeria after the Qatari judiciary granted a formal extradition request that was handled through the Federal Ministry of Justice in Abuja.

While acknowledging the power of international cooperation in preventing transnational crimes, Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, praised the hard work of INTERPOL NCB Abuja and expressed gratitude to the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Government of Qatar, INTERPOL NCB Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar for their crucial assistance in securing the fugitive’s return.

‎As part of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to justice and the protection of all Nigerians, the Inspector-General of Police further gave the public the assurance that the suspect will be diligently prosecuted.
