Together with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Kaduna State Police Command operations have neutralized three armed robbers, recovered 21 fake AK-47 rifles, and rescued 17 kidnapped victims.
According to a statement released by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, on Thursday, April 10, 2025, police officers also shot down three armed robbers along the Kaduna–Abuja Expressway.
He also mentioned that at the Kawo Central Motor Park, 21 fake AK-47 rifles were found by members of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit from a driver named Jamilu Suleiman.
“In line with the operational directives and strategic vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, geared towards tackling violent crimes, dismantling criminal networks, and enhancing public safety across the country, the Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant breakthroughs in recent operations conducted in Kaduna State,” the statement read.
After being quickly transported to the Kaduna Police Clinic for a medical examination, all rescued individuals were deemed to be in stable and sound health.
On April 9, 2025, Anti-Kidnapping Unit agents, acting on reliable information, stopped a commercial Volkswagen Sharan car at Kaduna’s Kawo Central Motor Park. Officers found 21 fake AK-47 rifles hidden inside the car after conducting a thorough search.
The suspect, a 27-year-old man from Rafin Guza, Kaduna named Jamilu Suleiman, was taken into custody after being arrested. The suspect admitted during initial questioning that a union member had given him instructions to deliver the guns to an unnamed person in Kaduna. A comprehensive inquiry has been initiated to dismantle the network of arms trafficking and hold those responsible accountable.
Separately, on April 9, 2025, at approximately 0500 hours, a good samaritan called the Police Command to report an armed robbery at Doggi Farm, which is situated along the Kaduna–Abuja Expressway.
A patrol team was quickly mobilized to the scene by the Tafa Division’s Divisional Police Officer (DPO). When they arrived, they got into a heated gunfight with a group of roughly thirty armed robbers who had broken into the building earlier. Two of the robbers were killed during the gunfight, and the others ran away toward the neighboring hills.
Two additional wounded suspects were captured and transported to Sabon Wuse’s Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Memorial Hospital for medical attention. Regretfully, one of them was later found to be dead, but the other is still alive and helping the police with their investigation.
