On April 16, 2025, Inter Milan drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich at the San Siro in an exciting second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal, earning a 4-3 aggregate victory and moving on to the semi-finals.
Harry Kane, who has scored 11 goals in 13 Champions League games this season, gave Bayern Munich the lead in the 52nd minute.
But Inter Milan reacted quickly, with Benjamin Pavard, a former Bayern player, giving Inter the lead in the 61st minute and Lautaro MartÃnez equalizing in the 58th. Bayern failed to strike the game-winning goal to reverse the aggregate deficit, however Eric Dier’s header in the 76th minute tied the score.
By scoring against 21 different Champions League opponents, Harry Kane set a new record for an English player and recorded his 35th goal of the season in all competitions.
Inter advanced to the semi-finals thanks in large part to Benjamin Pavard’s goal against his old team.
With his 163rd Champions League appearance, Thomas Müller tied Lionel Messi’s record and could have played his last match for Bayern.
Despite the elimination, Thomas Müller remained composed, stating, “I’m not that disappointed,” and praised Inter as a strong team.
Bayern’s board member for sport, Max Eberl, expressed disappointment but emphasized that the team was not inferior over the two legs.
In order to maintain their hopes of winning a triple, Inter Milan will play Barcelona in the semi-finals.
Under manager Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich, who lead the Bundesliga by six points with five games left, will concentrate on winning at home.
