The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is seeking a strategic and innovative Learning & Knowledge Senior Specialist or Specialist to join the Inter-American Institute for Economic and Social Development (INDES), part of the Knowledge and Learning Division. This role is central to advancing institutional capacity across the IDB Group, its executing agencies, and other key partners—helping to drive sustainable development impact in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Role Overview
The Learning & Knowledge Senior Specialist / Specialist will contribute to the development and implementation of capacity-building strategies that enhance development effectiveness. This includes the integration of learning and knowledge solutions that promote ownership, impact, results, value for money, and the systematic use of evidence and data.
This position will involve close engagement with a range of stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector actors, academia, multilateral institutions, and civil society. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking professional who can design, lead, and evaluate learning programs aligned with institutional goals and regional development needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to INDES’s business plan and the broader goals of the Knowledge and Learning Division.
- Promote collaboration and teamwork to maximize performance and cohesion.
- Engage with diverse stakeholders to strengthen regional capabilities through impactful training and knowledge initiatives.
- Conduct strategic needs assessments and define instructional goals, content, and learning outcomes.
- Develop learning programs that translate complex technical content into clear, accessible formats for a wide range of audiences.
- Coordinate and evaluate the implementation of cutting-edge, scalable learning models and methodologies.
- Incorporate internal expertise and operational knowledge into all learning interventions.
Candidate Profile
Education:
A Master’s degree in social sciences, psychology, public or business administration, instructional design, engineering, adult education, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably 7 or more. Candidates should demonstrate:
- Experience addressing social, economic, or sustainable development challenges.
- Familiarity with the development landscape of Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Expertise in designing and implementing capacity-building and learning strategies.
- Ability to collaborate with high-level technical teams and multiple institutional stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of results-based management and multitasking across initiatives.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage diverse teams, and deliver results under pressure.
- Strong communication, analytical, and synthesis skills.
Languages:
Proficiency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of French or Portuguese is a plus.
Eligibility Requirements
- Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries. The organization may provide support for relocation and visa processes for eligible dependents.
- Family Restrictions: Candidates must not have immediate family members working within the IDB Group (including IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab) up to the fourth degree of consanguinity or second degree of affinity.
Contract Type and Duration
- Contract: International Staff Appointment.
- Duration: Initial 36-month contract, renewable upon mutual agreement.
