In Yobe State’s Gujba Local Government Area, suspected Boko Haram terrorists killed 32-year-old vigilante Modu Bulama and demolished eight stores and 12 blocks of rooms.
The attackers broke into Gujba town on Saturday night while the locals were sleeping, according to sources who verified the incident to Daily Trust on Wednesday.
Before k1lling Modu Bulama as he tried to flee, the insurgents went from house to house looking for vigilante members, a resident who wished to remain anonymous told the publication.
Dr. Goje Muhammad, the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), confirmed the incident, said the agency had assessed the situation, and offered condolences to Bulama’s family and the victims.
“Our assessment found that 14 households, comprising about 57 individuals, were directly affected. A total of 12 blocks of rooms and eight shops-mostly owned by business owners and local vigilante members-were destroyed by fire,” he said.
“Tragically, a 32-year-old vigilante lost his life, leaving behind two wives and seven children.”
