A brothel house was among the strategic black spots raided by detectives from the Yaba Divisional Police Station in Ondo town, which serves as the headquarters of the Ondo Local Government Area in Ondo State.
When the armed officers stormed the brothel house on Iluyemi Street in a commando fashion, they arrested a few middle-aged men and commercial sex workers whose identities have not yet been confirmed.
Victor Olowolagba, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), led the sting operation on Thursday. Division detectives also assisted him.
Speaking to the Daily Trusr, an impeccable source hinted that the police were responding to a tip from members of the public who had written about some alleged criminal and unwholesome activities occurring inside the brothel house.
“Some of them also reported that the building, being used by the commercial sex workers, also served as a hideout for suspected fraudsters and other criminals,” the source said.
“After the raid, the police were able to apprehend some commercial sex workers who are young girls and two men, suspected to be fraudsters.”
Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Mr. Olowolagba confirmed the raid and arrest at the brothel, saying that the police unexpectedly stormed the area to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
The police chief claims that the security personnel had previously been provided with reliable information regarding the bungalow being used as a brothel for commercial sex workers.
“We received credible information that the building might be used by fraudsters and other criminals,” he said.
“The owner of the building has been invited for questioning to assist with our investigation.”
Mr. Olowolagba disclosed that the different objects thought to be charms of various types were found at the brothel.
