On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) advanced to the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals thanks to exciting second-leg matches, even though they lost their respective games.

Following a fierce performance, Borussia Dortmund defeated FC Barcelona 3-1 at Signal Iduna Park. Serhou Guirassy, who scored goals in the eleventh, forty-nineth, and seventieth minutes to complete a hat-trick, was the most noteworthy player. Barcelona won 5–3 overall, and Dortmund failed to overcome the 4-0 deficit from the first leg despite this fantastic performance.

In the 54th minute, Dortmund’s Ramy Bensebaini scored an own goal, which was crucial because it gave Barcelona the away goal they required to maintain their aggregate lead. Barcelona lost for the first time in 25 games across all competitions, but they advanced to their first Champions League semifinal since 2019.

That evening, Aston Villa defeated PSG 3–2 at Villa Park after an amazing comeback. Goals from Youri Tielemans, John McGinn, and Ezri Konsa gave Villa hope after early goals from Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mende widened PSG’s overall lead.

PSG won 5–4 overall and advanced to the semifinals despite Villa’s efforts and an enthusiastic home crowd. The goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, made several crucial saves to keep PSG ahead.
