On Friday, Mohamed Salah signed a new two-year contract with Premier League leaders Liverpool, ending months of rumour about his future.

Since joining the Reds from Roma in 2017, Salah, 32, has made 394 appearances and scored 243 goals, making him the third-highest goal scorer in club history.

During his tenure at Anfield, the Egyptian has won both the Premier League and the Champions League, and he has led Liverpool to the verge of a record-tying 20th English Premier League championship.

With seven games left, Arne Slot’s team leads by 11 points thanks to Salah’s 27 goals and 17 assists in the Premier League this season.

“Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies,” Salah said in a club statement.

“It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.”
