There are now 72 people dead as a result of the several raids on Benue State villages by armed invaders.

This came after 13 additional dead were recovered following the assaults on the state’s Ukum and Logo Local Government Areas.

On Sunday, Governor Hyacinth Alia recognized the finding of 59 dead during his Easter remarks in Makurdi.

However, the number of fatalities rose as additional bodies were found in the nearby bushes of the tense neighborhoods.

The dead were discovered in both of the attacked local government areas, according to Isaac Uzaan, the Principal Special Assistant (PSA) to the Benue Governor on Media and Content Creation, who provided the information.

According to Uzaan, our correspondent has learned that 12 bodies have been discovered from Ukum and the last one from Logo, bringing the total number of deaths to 72.

Recall that between Thursday evening and Friday morning, many rural communities in the Sankera axis—which includes the three LGAs of Ukum, Logo, and Kastina-Ala—were attacked, resulting in the murder of multiple people.

Twelve of the 17 dead bodies were found in the Logo region, while five were found in the Ukum area, according to the Benue State Police Command on Friday night.
